Emmes focuses its investment expertise as a fiduciary on behalf of public pension plans. Founded in 1992 as a privately-owned real estate investment company. Emmes became a registered investment advisor in 2002 and expanded its client base and co-partner relationships to include United States pension funds. Prior to that, Emmes partnered with opportunity funds and high-net worth individuals to acquire performing and non-performing debt portfolios from insolvent financial institutions and distressed sellers. 

To date, Emmes has acquired over 390 assets, comprising over 36 million square feet at a cost in excess of 1.8 billion. Currently the company has 89 diverse assets under management spanning the office, retail, multifamily and industrial sectors, encompassing nearly 11 million square feet located across 20 states.*

Emmes principals average 21 years of real estate experience and 14 years together with consistent strategy execution. The firm offers integrated, innovative solutions that span the entire spectrum of real estate activity, with a particular expertise in distress investments involving debt-to-control strategies, and a proven record working through and resolving complex foreclosure and bankruptcy situations. The firm acts as a special servicer and provides portfolio takeover expertise as well.
